Jaye's Intro

My name is Jaye Wells and I'm thrilled to be here after lurking for months. It's cool to be part of this group, since I'm already a fan of so many of its members.

I recently sold a three-book deal at auction to Orbit US. The first book in the series will be published in summer 2009. It's currently titled Red-Headed Stepchild, but the jury's still out on whether I'll get to keep it.

Here's the blurb:
Half-mage and half-vampire, Sabina Kane's mixed blood has made her the red-headed stepchild of the vampire race. Despite this, she is loyal to the Dominae, the vampire rulers who raised her to be an assassin. But when Sabina discovers the Dominae's secret plans to wage war against the mage race, she must choose between the only family she's ever known and the one that disowned her at birth.

I live in Texas and write full-time. When I'm not writing, I'm chasing my five-year-old son, whom I affectionately call "Spawn." I have a blog here, where I discuss the writing life and weird things I come across in my book research. Drop by and say hi if you have a chance.
